When choosing a floor material, the choice traditionally dwells on two of them: laminate and parquet. To decide which is better, you need to thoroughly study their characteristics and, of course, compare. Only in this way you will not be mistaken in choosing. First, we will figure out what each of the materials is. Laminate is a multi -layer coating, the surface of which usually consists of decorative materials – for example, plastic film, furniture foil of various colors and textures. The quality of the laminate is determined by the upper protective layer. Most often, this layer is made of durable melamine resin. DSP or FEP make up the main supporting layer of this coating, thanks to which the laminate acquires stiffness, strength and moisture resistance. The lower layer is also protective and is made of specially impregnated paper or plastic. The edges of the laminate are also treated with a water -repellent composition. The advantages of the laminate are that it is quite easy to care for, it is not required to polish and varnish. Its color remains unchanged after the expiration of time, besides, it will not burn out in the sun and even a match or cigarette, accidentally falling to the floor, will not leave a trace on the surface. Any pollution is easy to remove with detergents, solvents or acetone. As for the cost, even the highest quality and expensive laminate will cost less than an inexpensive parquet. Unlike laminate, parquet is made of natural wood. The cost depends on the tree breed. Varieties of parquet: massive and piece. The main advantage: Parquet is an environmentally friendly material. When choosing an expensive parquet, it must be remembered that it needs constant care. For example, once every 3-4 years, grinding and varnish should be carried out. If you have pets, make sure that they do not spoil the coating. The temperature, like high humidity, also affects the period of use. And any sharp objects are able to damage the parquet. What to choose, parquet or laminate, you decide. Laminate should be chosen if you are aimed at economy and practicality. And if the main criterion is naturalness, in addition, you have the means, then you can safely take parquet.
