Many owners of apartments in Soviet buildings use loggias as a place for drying underwear, storage of old or unnecessary things, or temporarily hold products there. Meanwhile, repaired the loggia and bringing it into a decent look, you can get an additional living room or a comfortable office. At the same time, all work on the repair of the loggia (except glazing) can be done with your own hands.
1. Glazing. The windows on the loggia should be strong, reliable, resistant to external influences and fire. The best option for glazing is a plastic or metal -plastic two -chamber glass. A wooden two -chamber double -glazed window is cheaper, but its life and fire safety are less. Aluminum double -glazed windows can only be single -chamber, therefore, in cold areas it is impractical. Glazing is the only stage in the repair of the loggia that professionals should be carried out.
2. Lighting. If it is desirable, the appropriate wiring work must be done before the insulation of the loggia.
3. Insulation and waterproofing. Materials and technologies here can be very different – from low -budgets to expensive. The traditional version is wooden frames on the floor, walls and ceiling, mineral wool or polystyrene as a heater and foil stenophone as a waterproofer.
4. Installation of thermal source. It is not required if a warm floor is used on the loggias, in the traditional version, a discharge is made from the radiator of steam heating.
5. Finishing. At the final stage of the repair, panels made of natural wood, plastic, metal or MDF are used – panels for wood. All of them have both positive and negative properties.
So, wooden panels (lining) are environmentally friendly, but require impregnation with a special composition that protects against moisture and decay; Plastic impregnation panels are not required, but may be harmful to health; metal panels have excellent characteristics, but their cost is very high.
For decorative flooring, ceramic tiles, moisture -resistant laminate or other materials are used.
Note that for wall decoration you should not use wallpaper, and floor – parquet.
The repair of the loggia can be stretched for several months, but you can meet in a matter of days; As a result, the apartment gets an additional room, which can be used as you like.
