Classification of slopes: which method to choose

  • January 20, 2025

There is an opinion that if the windows are installed reliably and efficiently, then they have excellent isolation. In fact, this is not true, because the mounting foam, if it is not protected, will absorb moisture over time, and during the frost it will collapse. In this regard, in any case, it is worth making slopes. They will protect the mounting seams, provide the room with additional noise – and thermal insulation, and not just hide the traces of the window opening that remain after the installation of the window. If you install the slopes correctly, they will protect your windows from fogging. With improper installation of slopes, approximately 40 percent of heat will go through them.

Types of slopes

Plastic slopes

The most popular in our time is plastic slopes that are easily washed, quickly mounted, do not burn out and are very practical. Plastic has a long service life, so PVC slopes will last you at least 20 years. Plastic slopes look beautiful with windows, especially if you choose the right shade of PVC. As a rule, in such designs, mineral wool is used, which prevents fogging of windows and heat loss, giving the slopes a good hydroxy – and thermal insulation. To install such slopes, the performance class plays an important role.

Plaster slopes

They have more minuses than pluses. Over time, such slopes will begin to crack, and under the influence of sunlight they will lose their color. In addition, in terms of manufacturing, plaster slopes are not convenient. They are applied in several layers, each of which must dry. Then they are covered with a primer and paint. All this can take from one to two weeks.

Plasterboard slopes

Such slopes have a longer service life than plaster analogues. If they are insulated with cotton wool, they will receive excellent thermal insulation properties. But do not forget that drywall does not tolerate moisture, in connection with this you will not be able to get good waterproofing when using drywall slopes. It is advisable to use them in rooms with a slight level of humidity. In addition, slopes made of drywall require a person with high qualifications, painting and primers.

We hope that you still prefer plastic slopes that are the best of all those that we described above.
