A sealant is a substance with a consistency of a paste or a viscous compound created on the basis of polymeric materials, designed to create sealing.
For use at home, there are two types of excellent sealant:

The most popular are silicone sealants, but the most profitable in price are acrylic sealants, although they have one small drawback – this is hardening when exposed to low temperatures, and can also change color.
How to work with a sealant
If the sealant is purchased for work with plastic coatings, then a sealant with minimal adhesion or a primer is needed.
In the case of the use of a sealant for repairing in rooms with high humidity (bathroom, pool or on the balcony), you should choose a sealant with mm fungicides.
If a sealant is necessary in order to close any damage on parts with fever, then the composition of the sealant must meet these requirements.
An ordinary cheap sealant may be suitable for working with wood products. It is also great in order to eliminate the cracks between the windowsill and the wall, between the window frame and the wall, as well as for the concrete and stone surface.
In the case of using the sealant in visible places, to give a more aesthetic type and the best protection against moisture, you can use the sealant in the composition, which is added by silicone. Such a seam seam is transparent, without any stripes.
This chemical substance has the property of good sticking (adhesion) to almost any surface. In order to apply sealant seam, it is necessary to use a construction spatula or a special gun. If there is neither one nor the other, it should be squeezed out of the tube, instantly giving it the necessary shape before it begins to solidify, due to hardening the polymer basis. The applied sealant layer is easy to paint and does not emit toxic substances.
The sealant is recommended to fully use the entire composition in a short period of time, since it has the property of drying, after opening the tube.
