Thermodrevsina: what is, features

  • June 8, 2018

Wood is the most common building material since ancient times, and in different historical eras it was processed in different ways. Nowadays, the tree is dried and treated with various impregnations, but not so long ago, thermoduresin has become known in the construction market. This is wood dried at high temperatures – above 180 ° C, which can be immediately used for different purposes, including construction, including.

Actually, this material appeared much earlier: already in the 30s of the XX century, it was tried to make it in Germany, and the Americans connected to production after another 10 years. At the end of the century, the Finns, the French and Italians became interested in this: it turned out that changes in the structure of wood become irreversible if it is processed at temperatures of 180-230 ° C. Today, the best is considered the best of thermodrenezin from Finland, although it is also produced in many other countries. The material is divided into classes, and has a yellowish, reddish or brownish color. 1st class-processing passes at a temperature of more than 190 ° C; 2nd-at a temperature of more than 210 ° C. The strength of the material is reduced, but it becomes 2-3 times more resistant to decay. 3rd grade-this treatment at a temperature of more than 230 ° C-resistance to decay becomes very high.

The main properties of thermal percurens are considered durability, high resistance to deformation and humidity, low thermal conductivity – ¼ lower than that of wood that has not passed such a processing. Microorganisms in thermodrenees do not multiply, and at the same time it remains environmentally friendly material. Thermodesin also has disadvantages: the material cannot contact the soil, does not tolerate UV radiation and smells a little bitter wood. Thermoduresin costs significantly more than ordinary wood, but it is often difficult to distinguish from the latter, especially if wooden material is processed by impregnations – it should be consulted here with specialists so as not to make a mistake and not become a victim of unscrupulous sellers. Such wood is used for interior decoration of premises – in particular, saunas and baths; floors, manufacturing boats and garden furniture. Musical instruments, windows and various household items are made from it.
