The choice of a diesel generator
First you need to decide what work the generator will perform. It can be of two types:
basic;
spare.
If you need the generator to work constantly, stop at the main thing. If you plan to use it only in cases where the main source of electricity comes out their system, purchase a reserve generator.
The next moment to pay attention to is the installation site. If you have chosen the main generator, the device will be stationary and will be able to be used in the open air, which means to withstand temperature changes and any weather conditions. If you plan to purchase a backup diesel generator, then it also makes sense to take care of the acquisition of a protective container – this is how your generator can withstand any weather. In other cases, the backup generator can be stored in the room in optimal conditions for it.
Be sure to pay attention to such an important point as power – this is the main characteristic of the generators. Remember that external conditions affect the power of the generator. So, high indicators of air humidity and temperature make the generator less powerful. Therefore, for example, for use on the coast, it makes sense to take care of the generator with higher power. In other cases, choose a generator in accordance with your needs.
The voltage phases that the generator produces is another important point. Generators can be:
Single -phase – such devices are used at home, as well as in offices where the load on the network is not so significant;
Three -phase – these generators are used in industry and in industries of any type. They can produce voltage much higher than their single -phase brothers.
The time of continuous work without the need for refueling is an important, but individual item. When choosing a generator on this basis, it is necessary to evaluate the entire scale of the work for which the device is selected, as well as decide on preferences.
The most important criterion for choosing diesel generators is the cooling system. Of course, the device will and should heat up in the process, which is why it is important to pay attention to the quality and type of cooling. On this basis, generators are divided into devices:
With air cooling – such a principle of operation is used in low -power generators. Such a cooling system is the weakest;
With water cooling – this system is used in devices with high power. A distinctive feature is the complexity of the design;
With oil cooling – the most reliable system. High indicators of wear resistance and strength allow you to use such a cooling system in diesel generators of the largest capacities.
